What is Broomball?

Broomball is basically Field Hockey on ice. Players wear special broomball shoes which have a soft rubber sole for better traction (that's right, you run on the ice!).

Broomballers wield a broom, which is wooden or metal with a triangular hard rubber head. The ball is made of a rubbery plastic and is roughly half the size of a volleyball. The idea of the game is the same as field hockey and that is to score more goals than your opponents in the two twenty minute halves. It is a great social game, is simple to learn but with many skills to master and most importantly great fun. Head down to your local comp and give it a GO!

No skating ability required.

On the field, teams have 6 players which include 1 goal keeper, 2 defenders and 3 forwards. According to the IFBA rule book, team numbers can total 20 players allowing for numerous substitutes.
