Registration Changes for the Worlds in Austria

For all those who do not regularly visit the IFBA web site the following item will be of interest.

To all note that after Burnaby, it was necessary to review the way in which the registration is being coordinated on the Monday night. For Innsbruck, all athletes, coaches, managers, staff, volunteers, Executive, Sponsors and pets will have their pictures taken and mounted on a plasticized card for their commemorative ID during the event. The cards will also be used for many events during the week so once you receive your event ID...HANG ONTO IT!

IFBA World Championships

The upcoming 2010 IFBA World Broomball Championships being held in Telfs/Innsbruck Austria look to be an historic event with teams looking to come from not only the traditional member associations but also from England and Russia. With the limited number of teams in each division this will be the most open event yet.

Broomball Australia is again sending a large team consisting of 61 persons who will fill spots on four different teams.

International readers interested in swopping jerseys will again find this years version a collectors item which will be hotly sort after.

Ironman in Melbourne a success

The weekend of August 27th - 29th 2010 found Broomball Australia members at the new Olympic sized rink in Melbourne Australia. To christen the new facility that has only recently opened a fun format broomball tournament was played all through the night. Teams flew in from Adelaide, Sydney, Canberra as well as members coming from as far away as Townsville, QLD. Competition was fierce with no team giving quarter and as the night wore on those that paced themselves demonstrated energy reserves that helped get them through.

The final was between teams from The ACT and SA.

Nationals 2010

This year's National Broomball Championships were held in Canberra, ACT. The tournament started on the morning of Thursday 29th April with all member associations in attendance. The tournament had four divisions with the Mens, Ladies and Mixed Divisions hotly contested to determine the Australian champion.

Doug Nixon attended as Referee in Chief as representative from the IFBA and once again Curtis Nixon came down under to fill one of the officials spots.

Details on all the winners and loosers are available on the ACTBA web site who hosted the event.

Broomball on TV

Leave it to the very innovative Kim Shapley to create something that has been needed for a long time. A visit to the BASA web site (link from the left of this page) and find the TV logo on the main page. There can be found hundreds of hours of Broomball Video, some which goes back many years.

More video is added almost weekly as the content comes to hand so if you are in the mood to see what broomball was years ago (yep playing with real brooms on one video) right through to the latest Local, National and International games this is the place to be.
